Pam Gatewood

Pam Gatewood is the talent behind Changing the Game Physical Therapy, a Colorado-based practice that specializes in holistic, whole-body physical therapy, sports injury rehab, pain, postpartum recovery, and pelvic floor rehabilitation. What sets Pam apart is her whole-body approach to uncover the underlying issues behind pain. She works with her clients to create real, lasting change—not just temporary relief.

When Pam came to me, it was on a recommendation from her sister-in-law, a delightful human being who I used to work with many years ago. Pam’s old website was in need of an overhaul so that it reflected her new branding and made it easier for people to understand who she serves and how.

Done and done. I absolutely love giving women business owners the website they deserve!

Kind words

“Working with Kristen was an absolute pleasure. She is organized, thoughtful, and made every step of the process incredibly clear. She collaborated with me on different ideas, offered expert advice, and ultimately built a website that matched exactly what I was envisioning. Kristen brings a wonderful mix of professionalism, creativity, and joy—she makes building a website fun! Highly recommend.”

The old website

Pam’s old website was a bit of a jumble with a laundry list of issues.

It didn’t “flow” well, which made it difficult for people to read, understand, and navigate. It sounded like she only treated men—definitely not the case! It didn’t properly spotlight her skills and the whole-body approach that differentiates her from her competition. Her testimonials weren’t highlighted. There was no place for upcoming events and workshops.

Worst of all, her services weren’t listed clearly and it wasn’t obvious to people how they could book an appointment.

Last but not least, her old site hadn’t been properly optimized for search engines—let alone AI search summaries. Her appearance in search results made it sound like she was geared toward in-home physical therapy, a service she had long since stopped offering.

A remake was definitely in order. Here’s a look at her old website:

The web design process

Pam worked with a graphic designer to update her logo. We used her existing color palette and font suite. And because her site’s wording needed an overhaul, I set her up with a wording outline so she could fill in headings, paragraphs, FAQs, and button labels. She had some great photos of her working with clients. To round off her design, I connected her with my favorite sources for free, high-quality stock photos.

I couldn’t wait to get started with design. Pam lives and works in Colorado. And as you might imagine, she loves outdoor sports. She wanted her website to “look and feel” like Colorado and share her love of the Great Outdoors, and her joy at getting out in it.

Talk about design inspiration!

I leaned hard on Colorado’s color palette and created an airy site with plenty of white space, evoking snow and wide open spaces. I also paired her brand teal color with a new, deep navy blue to evoke mountain lakes and a light grey to evoke winter skies. And in all places, I made sure the photos spoke to action, adventure, and exploration.

I adjusted the new wording that Pam supplied to make sure her site would come up in search results. And thanks to a page full of well-written FAQs, her site has started to appear in the AI summary box at the top of search results. That’s more important than it sounds! Consumer search behavior continues to change rapidly, with surveys showing that more than half of all search inquiries stop at the summary box. If people are less inclined to scroll through search results, it’s more important than ever to give our Robot Overlords the information they need to quote your website in the summary box.

Pam’s website also enables her to collect email addresses, and includes mass email capabilities so she can send out event and workshop notifications. I added some custom code to create fun button hover effects and a few other bells-and-whistles to boot.
