Creations by Lena

Jessica Frederick is a talented seamstress with a passion for apparel. For her, fashion is all about individuality and freedom of expression. Jessica launched Creations by Lena in 2022 to not only give her passion an outlet but honor her late mother Evelina. In Jessica’s words, Evelina “possessed beauty, style and creativity. She always inspired me to go after anything I was passionate about and let’s just say: creativity is in my blood!”

Darn right it is. Jessica’s apparel designs are as unique and fresh as she is! From crewneck and hoodie sweatshirts to tees, caps, and beanies, there’s nothing this girl can’t do. She plans to start offering sweatpants and patches soon, too. And because doing good feels “sew” good, Jessica donates a portion of profits from her “Love Mom” collection to Friends of Night People right here in Buffalo.

I love it.

When Jessica came to me, she already had a logo and brand palette. She needed a custom web design to bring her creations to the web, begin accepting custom commissions, and start selling her designs online.

Done and done. What a pleasure it was to give her the web presence she deserves!

The web design process

When we talked, Jessica knew exactly what she wanted: A super simple web design with no frills, no clutter, and the spotlight squarely on her apparel.

Jessica wanted it to be easy for her customers to find what they were looking for, buy right from the home page, and commission her for a custom order. She already had all of her brand elements, including a professionally designed logo and a color palette full of cool blues and greys. She used a wording outline that I provided to write the content for her site.

And on the e-commerce end of things, Jessica quickly did everything needed to prepare her business for online sales. In no time at all, she took product photos and made decisions on pricing, product descriptions, and shipping.

Talk about organized! Glorious.

Jessica’s not a tech person—just like every single one of my clients. On top of running a business, she’s got kids. And that means she has no time for nonsense. She needed a website that would “just work” and help her run her business, not turn into a time suck.

Spoiler alert: I chose Squarespace for Jessica’s website. With Squarespace, there’s no need for constant back-end updating or backups. Editing content and adding new products is super easy. And fulfilling orders takes just a couple of clicks.

Jessica’s brand is elegant and simple, with a lovely cursive font and a lightweight, airy paragraph font. I leaned into the cool blues and greys of her brand palette and kept the design clean and crisp. To give the site a bit of movement, I had some fun with parallax scroll effects on many of the full-bleed images. Her website is brand aligned but ensures that all the attention remains on her lovely apparel designs.

The result is fresh and unique—just like Jessica.

Take a look at her new website!
