Jamestown Community Learning Council
Jamestown Community Learning Council is an award-winning nonprofit that helps young children throughout Chautauqua County, NY become better learners by making home visits and working with them, their parents, and their schools. It's hugely important work that has life-altering implications for these children. And because the organization is decentralized, a strong web presence is critical.
So imagine how they felt when they lost their website thanks to someone else's server switcheroo. Oh, and there were no backups. They went without a website for months—and I'm sure I don't have to tell you how hard it was for them and the people they serve.
They deserved better. I made sure they got it.
Kind Words
“Working with Kristen to develop our website was one of the best experiences I have had. She is extremely knowledgeable, has a great sense of design, and the finished product is amazing! I didn’t fully understand all that went into creating a new website and Kristen was very patient with all my questions and helped me to refine the copy and content. I’m so pleased with her work that we are keeping her on retainer! Thank you Kristen!”
The Before
You know, the Internet has a strangely long memory. I was able to find a screenshot of the JCLC’s old website as it appeared in 2016. Definitely not ideal!
The New Website Design
I brought the JCLC’s website to WordPress. Using the Divi Builder, I turned the Elementary Theme into a joyful, colorful testament to the JCLC’s impact. Updated with the JCLC’s new brand colors and logo, the design is full of subtle animations, clear calls to action, and crisp copy that spotlights not only JCLC’s important work but those to whom it matters most: Children.
Here’s a look at the new site’s home page, which launched in 2020:
